Dealing with a kicked or pried door can be pretty stressful. In today's post I hope to reduce the stress of dealing with this situation.

If you see a kicked or pried in door, be aware that you could be encountering a robbery in progress. Make sure the coast is clear and there is no one lurking around. Safety first!

First thing that needs to happen is to survey the situation. How bad is the door and frame busted up? Next you need to ask yourself how nice does it need to look when the repair is complete? If a door doesn't need to look perfect you can almost always repair it to make it secure and operational without having to replace the entire door and frame.

You can use large strike plates and wrap plates to cover and re enforce any broken wood on the door and frame. Sometimes it will even look pretty good when done if you don't mind cover plates. In a decorative setting this may also be a temporary solution until a new door is available. If you require a pristine setup you will need to look into an entire new door and frame setup.

Hopefully this situation will never come up but if it does know their are solutions to get the door secure and operational pretty quickly. Give us a call, email or text if you have any additional questions.
